Fireflies

Objective

Fireflies is a 3D vertical slice adventure game focused on exploration and atmosphere. The goal was to establish a strong visual identity and create a cohesive world that communicates mood, scale, and storytelling through design.

Contributions

I worked across two teams, primarily in design while also contributing to 3D modeling. I helped establish the visual direction through color, mood, and branding, and created four in-game models that were implemented into the vertical slice.

Design

Process

We began by defining five key words to describe Fireflies: whimsical, smallness, suspense, cute, and vibrant. From this, we built a moodboard that guided all visual decisions. This foundation informed our color palette, concept direction, and overall aesthetic moving forward.

Moodboard & Colors

We researched key themes to inform the visual direction, building a moodboard that defined the game’s tone and aesthetic. From this, we extracted a focused color palette that represents the world and supports a cohesive, immersive vision.

Typography

The typography system balances personality with clarity. Zain is used for headings and callouts to add energy and presence, while Gantari serves as the primary body typeface, offering flexibility and readability across UI, marketing, and in-game text.

Pitch Decks

I designed the layout for thefirst pitch deck. The first was an initial concept created within a short timeframe, while the second was a more refined version with expanded content and updated visuals. Both supported communicating the game’s vision clearly to others.

Branding Guidelines

I contributed to building the brand kit, helping ensure consistency across visual elements. This included applying the established color palette, typography, and overall style to create a cohesive identity for the game.

3D Modeling

Modeling Process

For my 3D work, I started from concept art and translated designs into low-poly models through box modeling. I focused modeling the fireflies of the game which were later textured and rigged by another team memmber silamrly with the mole character it was refined later.

Outcomes

The project resulted in a clearly defined visual direction and a cohesive game identity. I contributed four finalized models used in the vertical slice, supporting both the gameplay and overall world-building.

Collaboration

I worked across multiple teams, contributing to both design and 3D pipelines. This required constant communication and coordination to ensure assets and visuals aligned across the project.
